Title: Gobble call
Post by: philbilly223 on March 31, 2015, 08:18:27 PM
Any suggestions on a gobble call?  I was looking at the primos double gobble call because Ray Eye was talking about it. Thanks for the input!

Been using the red wolf gobble call.  Works great.

I use that one and the Quaker Boy. I'm very happy with both. Stubborn birds have met their demise because of that call.

I use a tube call, sounds really good, better IMO than any straight gobble call...

Tube call. Learn to use one and it can be a secret weapon

Not my best work trying out new reeds but gives you an idea

I have a hale fire that I cannot get to gobble but I recently picked up a tube from bees that I am just starting to practice with. Can't quite get a good sound for clucks yet so I am a long way from gobbling on it

Had (& lost) the Red Wolf. It was good - I think it was one of the first shaker tubes that hit the market? The Primos original gobbler shaker call is pretty darn good too.

**it is critical to use proper hand position / technique... starting with an open hand (holding bell with just thumb and 1st finger) and then progressively closing your fingers around the bell at the end to deepen the sound chamber at the end of the "gobble". A straight shake - or worse yet - pumping it, will not sound right.

I agree, never heard a shaker call I liked, can pick them out in the woods from others like nothing.

Can run a tube but prefer to gobble on a mouth call, mouth call ain't the loudest but works great for when they are less than 200yds out

Box call is pretty easy to gobble with and I don't have to carry anything extra.

Built a short box just for gobbling, best sounding I've heard
