Title: MS Gobbler down 3/24/11

I had the pleasure of hunting with Preacher and a good friend of his this morning.  The turkeys were not gobbling at daylight, that is until Ol Preacher let out a screech owl scream with his natural voice.  The two longbeards cut loose and revealed their location.  

We slipped down the hill and into a nice looking bottom.  I pulled out a crystal call from HCC and let out a few yelps.  A few minutes later I yelped on my Hook's Duplicator and the gobblers cut me off.  We got quiet and did some soft calling.  About 30 minutes later I could see them coming.  The first bird got within range and started acting spooky so as he entered an opening I let my 870 eat! :z-guntootsmiley:  1st turkey of the year down!! :you_rock:

He is a nice 2 yr old, and I am proud to have him!!  A big thank you to Preacher and his buddy for taking me this morning, and thank you to the Lord for allowing me another morning to watch the sunrise and listen to gobbling turkeys!

Congrats, sounds like a great hunt!  The green sure looks nice.  I'd forget what it looks like without these southern photos, especially since its snowing here right now.

It really was a great hunt ,  could have easily over-called but , Lx is a real-deal turkey lip shooter,  soft on the calling , sweet on the leaf scratching.   It was a blast.

Thanks everyone!  I knew I was going to have a lot of fun hunting with Preacher, but this hunt truly exceded my expectations.  Not the turkey hunting so much,(they were TOUGH!) but the fellowship was awesome.  I didn't know I could laugh so much!

Thanks for the kind words Preacher.  Guys ol Preacher is a turkey killer himself, just ask ol Whooplash, he got to see it first hand Friday morning! :you_rock: :you_rock: :you_rock:
