My morning started out kinda rough. I get to my scouting area and a nasty storm rolls in, so I say hey stay in the truck, get a nap and wait it out. All good but it started popping lightening all around me. Heard three trees get popped so I went to my parents house 10 minutes away. So I wait it out and get back around 7:30 and walk out to my first plot to see what's going on. Get the nothing but crows. I try to find a hidden plot on top of another ridge get my compass bearing from my map head out going slightly north east, moe east. Walk for an hour and figure I should be there already. Real thick canopy so can't use the sun. Hit the top of a ridge can see out a bit and find the sun, I'm walking south west according to the sun. Somehow my compass reversed polarity. Well I managed to get back to a stream I knew would get me back to my origin and 2 hrs of walking I was soaked and wore out and about went home. Decided to go look at another spot which wasn't too far. Got there about 10 walked 100 yards hit the crow call had three gobble from each side of me. Sat down and within an hour had five thundering around me. Needless to say I forgot all about that pleasant little hike I had an hour earlier.
