Anyone ever shoot it through a rhino choke?
I have , with one shell --- , with a remington sp10 ,10 gauge and a rhino .685 , I think it did a 180 , while the the kicks did over 210
Thinking about trying 3 1/2 #7's out of my 870 sm with a rhino 660. Just wondering if they would be safe to shoot out of this setup.
The flight control wad isn't supposed to be shot through ported chokes . People do it though.
He is right , Federal does say , your not supposed to shoot it through a ported choke tube , but people do .....do it all the time
The rhino looks like a kicks , with the circular ports near the muzzle , but it's not - the kicks has the ports within the parallel section , and the rhino has ports within the forcing/constriction area of the choke - both are stout , and constructed with stainless grade steel , use at own risk
Indian Creek warns not to shoot that shell through their popular version of their ported choke
If it were my shotgun , and I wanted to shoot the federals - I would get the Trulock hw choke , it's specifically made for that shell , I think it's a 39$ choke - the only reason I tried those chokes , is because it was tried before and Trulock doesn't make a specific choke for that shell / gun combo
There are other chokes that shoot the federal hw well also , please be safe - Shannon
From previous experience I wouldn't recommend anyone shooting a shell through a choke that is not recommended to be shot through said choke. I already mentioned this once on here but I was duck hunting with a pattermaster ported choke and blind side shells (they have some kind of fc wad) but I didn't know I wasn't suppose to shoot fc shells through the choke and the wads were trying to go between the choke and the barrel - It broke the choke and bulged the barrel around the choke. Very expensive mistake.
Got home and looked on pattermasters website and it clearly stated to not shoot the Black Cloud or other fc shells in that choke.... Should've paid closer attention the the MFG details and recommendations...
Thanks for the info. That's crazy that the wad was trying to go between the choke and barrel.
