Title: 20ga 1187 results
Post by: darron on March 22, 2015, 03:07:51 PM
1187 20ga 26" barrel
40 degrees
wind 10-15
Lasered 40 yards
ssx choke

Federal hw #7- 99 in the 10

Hevi 13 #7- 115 in the 10

Was fairly disappointed since my 870 with ssx will do 180 with feds and 155 with hevi

I had a lot of trouble getting my 26" 11-87 to pattern any shells well. The only good patterns I could get was with an IC 555 and Nitro straight 7s. This coming off season I am buying a compact 870. Hope it comes together for you!

My 11-87 doesnt like the SSX either, but it loves the  IC .555 with Hevi 7's.  It also shot HWT better with the IC than the SSX.

Someone else on here was talking about this same issue about 26" barreled 870's + 11-87's not too long go.I remember him saying he did a lot of testing and found out that the 26"bbl's dont like chokes tighter than .570. Id try a Primos Tightwad .570,lead only RSF .572, or a carlsons .575. Theres a new Carlsons .575 on ebay right now for $25.Good luck let us know how you make out.

I'm currently fighting a 26" barreled 870.  It barely will break 100 with HWT or Hevi 7s. While my 11-87 youth model will go 130-140 with HWT 7s.

My 26in 870 dont pattern worth a darn either. I got a sumtoy 562-5 to try in.

So far I am having good luck with my Rem. 1187 26" 20ga with the SSX. I shot mine today, 65 deg, calm wind.  I shoot Hevi-13.  With 6's I get 132 in the 10" and 124 w/ the 7s.   I was a little disappointed with the 7's, besides the lower number, there was a gaping hole in the pattern.

I just ordered a carlson .575 extended non ported. I thought for $30 its worth a shot. Shooting sunday will post results. If I can get 130 or higher I will be satisfied. If that doesnt work then I dont know besides  buying an ic or sumtoy

My 1187 20ga 26" barrel shot 136 in a piece of computer paper at 40yds with fed hwt #7 and carlsons 575 and that is with a very dirty barrel. It also shot the magblend ok too.

I would be happy with 130 or higher.

Going to use the Hevi13 choke in my new Remington.  It should be nothing short of
magnificent :z-guntootsmiley:
