Post by: schief on March 22, 2015, 12:20:52 PM
FORCING CONE ??????
I HAD FORCING CONE LENGTHENED ON MY REM 870 12 & 20 GA/ I WAS POLISHING MY BARRELS AND NOTICED THE RAG WOULD DRAG WHEN IT HIT THE AREA THAT WAS LENGTHENED. LOOKED IN BARREL WHICH WAS SHINEY EXCEPT WERE IT WAS LENGTHENED WHICH WAS DARK.  LOOKED RUFF. I THOUGHT IT WAS SUPPOSE TO BE POLISHED.

I like the lengthened forcing cone. I don't think polishing does much for it compared to lengthening it.
I don't polish barrels.  Sometimes it may help a little, but it many times patterns suffer.

Only a few guns come with forcing cones polish.  The real high end guns come polished.  Most the time forcing cones help recoil more the anything else.  Now I have seen in some of the guns that are off center  it help a lot but that one them that is hard to see.  I have told folks as of late if you looking for pattern you have a 50/50 chance.
