Do turkey vests usually run big or small, or what it says it is? I am looking at the vest at Gander Mountain but do not know what size to order. If it helps, I am 6'1", 200lbs.
Also, does a vest make it easier to carry decoys?
I hunt in NE Ohio where it can be cold in the first weeks of the season. So I have a bigger vest that I can bulk up if needed. But at the same time, it has mesh to cool me down when the temps get down right hot in the late season. And yes, the decoys carry very well in the back of my vest. Hope this helps.
At your size, I'd go with a L/XL. That's what mine is and I'm 5'11 and 210lbs.
I'm 6'3" and around 210lbs. I have a Cabelas TatR III and wear a M/L. Had a TatR II in L/XL and it felt huge.
I find that turkey vests run a good bit larger than their label.
Most turkey vests have a pouch in the back that can hold a couple decoys.
Much like turkey hunters themselves, the vests tend to run large....

I'd say they run a little large also. Just remember though when you get them loaded down with all your gear it seems to help them fit a little tighter if they are a little big
Definitely go with L/XL. Better to be too big than too small. I think cabelas had a sale on their tactical tatr vests
buy em big . Remember the pockets are gonna be stuffed!
And the game pocket full of big ol gobbler :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright:
Turkey vests run large... I generally wear a medium or large, and a medium turkey vest fits me like a dress...
Turkey hunters, like duck hunters are apparently some big fat dudes for the most part...
