Title: Changing choke constrictions question
Post by: RiverRoost on March 20, 2015, 12:54:26 PM
I've got a rhino .670 right now in my super x3 and shooting nitros 4/5/7. I've got a decent supply of nitros so I was thinking about trying a different construction choke to get a better pattern. What do yall think from yalls knowledge about  a .660, possibly another rhino or Indian creek.

jellyhead 660 is a great choke, nitro has suggestions for chokes for many guns and there loads, I am guessing that rhino was one of them!

Just be careful how tight you go. I understand that Nitros are high pressured and you don't want to hurt yourself or damage the gun. If you have a decent pattern at 40-yards, I recommend you stay with your set-up. How's it patterning at 40-yards?

So dropping to a .660 be too tight. I didn't count and I am new to the in depth patterning game but I don't think that 40 yd pattern has 280+ as stated by nitro. Like I said I may not know what I'm looking at though

I was shooting 3.5" #5 from my Remington 870 Express Super Mag from a .660 at 30 yards and was not happy with the wide spread. Even with Long Beards. I guessed the larger shot was bouncing off each other and decided to open it up a bit. I picked up a .667 choke and suddenly got patterns at 40 yards 8-10 inches tighter. Play with it. Find what works and go kill a gobbler.

10" circle at 40 yards.
