I'm shooting a beretta a400 and just purchased a pure gold 660. Anyone using the same set up or know of any good loads that I should start my patterning with? Thanks.
I am definitely a novice at all aspects of turkey hunting but I had an A400 last year and it was awesome with Rhino .670 and Nitro Company 3.5" H517C, 2 7/16oz, 4x5x7. Even with my lack of pattern knowledge I could see it was good and now that I am trying to get a good pattern with the A5 that replaced it I can really see it was good.
How deep your pockets?
Nitro Company - Best Pattern Highest Price. Heavier than lead, 12g/cc.
Hevi Shot / Federal Heavy Weight - Middle Road. Heavier than lead. HeviShot gives better numbers but the Federals are 15g/cc compared to HeviShots 12g/cc.
Winchester Long Beards - Best lead shell ever made. Great price.
H-13 6's with the .660 PG...

With my A400 Pattern Master Code Black patterns the best over a variety of loads, Hevi 5's & 6's along with Longbeard 5's & 6's. A very close second is my Sumtoy Choke with the above mentioned loads.
Thanks. Im going to see what I can find around town and get to the paper. The heartache of an empty wallet is infinitely less painful than missing an opportunity at a good bird...... As I found out last weekend
What a great statement!

You have lots of great choices with that gun and most have been recommended to you. The Hevi-13 shells or WLB shells with #6 shot will both give you excellent patterns at all reasonable ranges.
The .660 PG choke should work well in that gun. You're shooting the ported model and not the Tempest? Many of my readers also use the JEB's chokes in those guns with excellent results.
Whatever you choose, I hope you have a great season.
Thanks,
Clark

I went with the ported because the tempest showed designed specifically for federal flight control. I hope I didn't make a mistake.
No, I think you made the right choice. The standard choke it a very good product.
Thanks,
Clark
