I am glad to announce that a Custom Call Makers show will be held back in Unicoi next year. Unicoi has graciously agreed to host this show the first year free of charge. This show was once a booming show where custom callmakers and hunters gathered! I know many of you probably never heard of Unicoi. It is located near the mountain city of Helen, GA. This is what Russell Beard and myself are trying to resurrect. As of now, the dates are January 15th, 16th, and possibly the 17th of 2016. I know this is a ways off, but we, and hopefully you too, want to see this thing back at the top where it used to be.This show is in no way iffiliated with the NWTF. This show is for you!
I've already had a good many of the old gang at Unicoi express their desire to see such a show. If you want more information, feel free to contact me through a pm and I will give you mine and Russell's phone number along with our email address.
The one thing I will need, from those wanting to set up as a vendor, is something in writing such as an email or snail mail, letting us know that you will be there. Unicoi request that we give them a number of guest that will be participating. They have agreed on a special room rate as well for those staying there during the show. There will be no banquet! Only a gathering of folks with the same interest....the wild turkey!

Mike, Mr. Herb is looking forward to doing his seminar and showing his video from his mountain gobbler captured on film this year. This is not a field filmed bird, this is a mountain gobbler filmed in the north GA mountains. Mr. Herb has killed many a turkey in this very same location. I know, because I've seen all of the shotgun hulls in the tree! I am very honored to call Mr. Herb my friend and have picked up a thing or two about mountain gobblers from him. Next year I'm taking my vacation to go hunt with him all week long! I'm sure what he has to say will be something special. I know lots of folks are from the mountains and hunt mountain birds all the time; but, for a flatlander, this is a whole different kind of hunting! And, the view is breathtaking! He will also be a vender there selling his book entitled "Native Turkeys", a book well worth reading!
From what he says, he is getting good responses from the local folks around there too!

Just an update....as of now we have 72 vendors coming to set up at the show next year. We have outgrown the place they were putting us. This going to be better. She is moving us into Master's Hall which can be locked at night. It will also give us more room.
If you are staying for the Friday night buffet, which is $14.95/person, you will need to see Russell Beard or myself to get a ticket. We are not collecting money. It is to be presented to the cashier after eating. These tickets may be obtained that Friday morning until time to eat.
I am also having 72 caps, of various colors, embroidered with a mountain silhouette and Unicoi Call Makers Show on them. If you are interested, let me know.

I talked to Unicoi yesterday and was told we are very close to capacity. So we have decided to go ahead and close the vendor list. Wish we could continue taking them, but we are running out of room.

Had to make a little change to the vendor list. Clint Corder will not be coming as a vendor due to a backlog of orders. However, he assured me he would be coming, just not as a vendor. We've got a fellow taking his place that has had many a table at Unicoi in the past, and that is Mr. Don Sitton!!
We had a guy to drop out of the show on the vendors list. So we have replaced him with Gene Gardner. So welcome Gene to the show!!
The show will be here before you know it!! I'm looking for a real good turn out! Looking forward to meeting a lot of you fellas for the first time! We've had a few to drop out, but had no problem filling their spot. That is to be expected! Some fine folks have offered to put out flyers in their vacinity. Thanks guys!! So far, they've put out about 100 flyers!! This is greatly appreciated!! As of right now, we've got over 120 people that will be dining with us! Thank you guys that responded to my request on this!! There is going to be some of the finest knife makers and call makers, at Unicoi come January, that has ever been under one roof!!
