Title: Box Call Question
Post by: Jgarrett on March 16, 2015, 12:19:11 PM
Hey guys,
I have a friend who is starting out trying to build box calls, and he wanted me to ask yall a few questions.  First, what kind of domestic woods would you consider to be best to use?  What type of finish is typically used on the outside of the boxes?

I'm a fan of butternut, poplar & walnut. People make them out of all sorts of wood though- cedar, mahogany etc. It really just depends on the sound your looking for. As far a finish, I use tung oil.
