Title: Advice needed with mouth call
Post by: WNCTracker on March 10, 2015, 09:20:55 PM
I recently got the gooserbat bacon and hooks executioner II mouth calls based on them having such high recommendations. . I've never used a three reed call like the bacon before and am surprised at the difference from what I'm used to in the double reed. . Does anyone have a general tip when going from double to triple reed?  Initially it seems like I need to keep it farther forward in the tongue and blow harder. Is that about right?  I am committed to switching solely to mouth calls this season. Fortunately I've got a month to practice and a 30 minute commute to work :-)

Personally I like 3 reeds better, you will need to have a bit more air pressure to operate the call, but how you manipulate the air is more important. My tongue position doesn't change between a 2 or 3 reed call. Maybe try to place the call a little further back on the roof of your mouth.

I found the bacon took a little more air than I'm used to right out of the package. After a couple days it loosened up some and I really like it. Makes some of the best purrs of any mouth call I've found. It runs the same my other calls.
