Title: Best Choke pattern for New A5 Browning
Post by: LastCallOutdoors. on March 10, 2015, 01:31:38 AM
Ok i have bought a new browning A5 in MOBL with a 28" barrel. I have a .660 rhino choke. I patterned it with 3.5" nitro's at 40 and only put 190 in a 10" circle. I know the choke is to small now and i need to get another choke in the .670 range. What is the best choke to get and if anybody has done any patterning with the nitro's cause thats all i shoot please post thanks alot. I am thinking about getting the indian creek or the pure gold any suggestions will help.

If you can get a choke for your A5 out of Pure Gold, you are a better man than me.  I ordered three weeks ago, and still no choke, no replies to e-mails, etc.

Not hearing too much good about the IC in .670...

I just received my Sum Toy in .675, and will be testing later this week...

Mud hen the pure gold is what nitro told me to use in the .670 but they recommended the rhino and jellyhead over it in the .670. They also told me indian creek does not shoot the hevi shot well. I havent heard nothing about the sumtoy chokes but let me know how they are.

Pure Gold contacted me today...

Rhino is a pretty safe bet...

I have not seen any mention of a Jellyhead in Invector DS...

Got the Sum Toy today, looks pretty well made, will test later this week...

I should be getting a rob Roberts choke in next week for my A5, I will let u know how it does. He recommended a .660, seems tight but he knows his stuff.

Sumtoy hooked me up with a .675 for my A5 a few week ago.  I ha the same Rhino choke and I agree that it was "over-choked".  The Sumtoy patterns much more evenly and is denser, especially with LB 5's and 6's.   I did not count pellets, but it's as good a killing pattern as I've ever shot.  Can't wait to bust a head in Bama with it next week.
