Title: Scouting Report
Post by: hunter22 on March 07, 2015, 03:19:41 PM
With all the snow and ice finally starting to melt, I had to get out and look around. I went to my farm and walked around several fields on my place and my neighbors. I was easing down a logging road beside a grown up field and something caught my eye. There were a group of 6 gobblers together feeding. I was about 60 yards from them and watched for several minutes. I clucked and purred ands their heads shot up. A couple started my way. I just got lower in the grass and waited for them to turn and walk away. Nice to know there are still a few birds in Arkansas. Bad thing is our season is only 2 1/2 weeks long this spring and I will be in Oklahoma guiding the first week of our Arkansas season. Maybe my son can get on the gobblers I saw today. Sure was exciting.

Yeah I know what ya mean. I got out and drove around looking for birds today. I found a field of 12 with roughly 8 inch beards. Too bad I don't know who owns the property or id be knocking on the door asking for permission.
