Picked up a new Remington 870 20 gauge youth with 21in barrel at Walmart for $337 out the door. Then drove to my gunsmith and he has it now and is drill and tapping it and mounting me a base for my Mueller Quick Shot. I also picked up a box of 20ga 3in Mag Blends while I was in there. Got home and ordered 6 boxes of Heavyweight 7's in 3in from Bass Pro. I just happen to have a Tightwad choke and I'm gonna try it out and see how it does in a few days when the mount is ready.
20 gauge and hw7's. There goes another 12 to safe queen status
I have good luck with the tightwad and mag blend

That's what I'm talking about son. I need to drill and tap mine. Right now I just have a saddle mount on mine.
Welcome to the club. I am not yet a full fledged member until I kill one with it though, but I have my 20.
Wow, that is awesome. I have considered joining this club also, but I may wait and see if the Longbeards ever make it out in 20 gauge.
Can't wait to see some patterns.
I hope to get some patterning done at the end of the week once all this rain breaks.
I'll echo another post mentioned. I'm not technically a 20 gauger yet until My 6 year old son or myself can kill a bird with it.
But I'm well on the way
^I am in the 20 gauge club now, too. Learning fast about 7s.
Here it is. Patterns to come when shells make t here and it warms up. Hopefully Saturday
I am getting130 to 140 with the mag blend ...not the highest# but its pretty even no big holes

I haven't shot yet, but if I was to get 140's in the hw7 or mb should I be happy?
If it is a nice even pattern (no major holes) and consistent, heck yes. A nice clean 140 will kill every bird (that you aim properly).
I have an 870 youth I've yet to shoot maybe this weekend. Hope yours is as sweet as it looks
Not sure if I'll hunt the MB's. I'm waiting on UPS to bring the HW 7's sometime this week.
Magnum Blends only 104 in the 10 with 214 in the 20. Did have 19 in my poa
Picture..yall tell me
:20 yards was nice though w/ the blends. 115 in the turkey
Test all you can. I've got a youth model 870 I put a shurshot stock on it let Sumtoy drill tap lengthen forcing cone trigger action polish add his choke and I put a Redfield redot I'll finish it tmrw and pattern. A RSF with fed 7s Carlson flush lots of options to try. I haven't shot mine yet so I have no clue what a hunting pattern should be on a 870 youth. 30 or less though your gun would crush
I don't like 40 yard shots and most of mine are 30 yards and in. So I think I'd be ok here, but will try the HW 7's as soon as the come.
Heavyweight 7's was the ticket, 154!!!!!
Nice pattern too. I would rather have a lower number with no holes. That looks very good.
I see dead turkeys and they don't know they are dead. :newmascot:
How's the recoil compared to a 12 gauge? :turkey2:
No Recoil at all to me
Did you shoot the HW#7's at 40 yards? What kind of choke are you using?
That pic was at 40 yards. 154 in the 10 with a Primos Tightwad
that tightwad choke is a bad choke for 20.00
My Franchi Affinity with a sumtoy 562-5 and federal HW #7 is getting 165 count. This is my first year touting a little 20.
Congrats & welcome to the club, I haven't used a 12 ga in years... ;)
Them 7's look awesome!
