Title: Checking zero with trap loads?
Post by: wisconsinteacher on March 05, 2015, 07:51:31 PM
Does anyone use trap loads at 20-25 yards to get them close to zero with their turkey loads at 40 yards?  I really don't like getting pounded or spending the big money  to get everything ready.

Yep.  I don't mind the pounding on the shoulder as bad as the pounding on the wallet shooting those precious turkey loads at paper...

I use some heavy reloads to check zero then fire a turkey shell or two.

Start with them at 10 then shoot my turkey loads at 40 to make sure all looks good.

I shoot Win 2 3/4 6's to sight in at 15 then move to turkey loads at 20,30,40. That way I know what my pattern looks like at those distances. Guns that are sighted in from the year before I just go out and shoot at 40.
