Title: A diamond in the rough
Post by: jordanz7935 on March 02, 2015, 08:02:16 PM
Well, i finally made it to the big leagues of 835 turkey chokes. Got these 4 chokes and 2 choke cases off of ebay for a good price. The guy obviously didnt know what he had.Had them listed as 835 chokes. I knew the one was a stardot. The ported silver choke was a mystery because it was not marked at all. One call to patternmaster confirmed my suspicions. Its a long range ported Patternmaster. Should be great for my new found obsession, waterfowl hunting.Any feedback on the patternmaster? Now, hows the stardot pattern with longbeards? Anybody try em yet?I know, hevi #7s are the ticket for this choke but i have no interest in them and theyre not availalable anywhere here. Ill probably put my last few magblends thru the stardot and see how they do.Im currently running a kicks 680 gettin 170s with 3.5 LB#5s in my 935. I really like my current setup but couldnt pass this up. Itll be interesting to see how the stardot and kicks compare shooting LBs.Im gonna try the patternmaster with longbeards just to see how it does.I mic'd it @ .720 so it might just do something with LBs Now i gotta wait for all this snow to melt. Also, id like to give props to patternmaster for excellent C.S. Talked to those guys for 20 minutes about their chokes and recomended loads etc. Very knowledgeable and they were glad to help.

The stardot doesn't seem to shine with the LB's the way it does with Hevi.
From what I've seen on here it looks to be on par with most other chokes.

Ah I almost bought them but if I am not mistaken didn't it say the stardot was a mossberg choke? Guess I should have paid more attention.

I saw those and recognized the star dot and pattern master but I already have a star dot and don't hunt waterfowl with my 935 so I didn't bid.  I wondered if someone on OG would get them.
Great job tha5 was a deal!
