Maybe, but I wouldn't.  I had the maxus all purpose that was drilled and tapped.  The holes had Steel inserts in them for added strength.  Unfortunately though browning uses a proprietary scope base that only allows use of a scope or red dot that uses weaver style rings.  I looked far and wide for a picatinny rail and even tried to have EGW make one for me but they blew me off.  I wound upp using the Browning base and putting a ff3 on it.  Unfortunately the Browning base is fairly tall and I didn't get comfortable cheek weld.  But it works.  I tried using aftermarket sights too but the maxus rail prevents attachment of most aftermarket sights.

I loved the gun but honestly the only way to use it is with a bead.  I went back using my sbe 2 and the maxus for ducks only now.  Good luck

Aluminum receiver. I wouldn't mess with it.

I have a gunsmith who has drilled and tapped aluminum receivers. He always advises that once it's done and a base is installed, it never be removed. Since the screws are steel and the receiver is aluminum, the drilled holes can "wallow out" if the base is installed and removed. It's also important to use a strong thread locker, if you choose to do that.

I would only consider having a qualified gunsmith who's drilled and tapped aluminum receivers successfully, to perform that however and I'd be prepared to leave the base on the gun. You can remove the optic and still use it for everything else but the base needs to stay put.

Thanks,
Clark
