Title: Scope mounting help
Post by: 55esox on February 24, 2015, 01:10:33 PM
I am looking at adding a Leopold VX-1 1-4 x 20MM scope on an 870 supermag, and have a few questions on going about doing this.

Gun is probably about 10 years old, so I will need to get that drilled, are there particular rail and rings I should use?

Any other input would be appreciated.

There's an aftermarket saddle mount with a Picatinny rail for the 870 that works well, and no gunsmithing is required.  I believe B-Square and others make it.

I have same scope mounted on my BLR deer rifle. I wanted the scope as low as possible. Used weaver rail and leupold extra low rings. It sits the scope down low and you can maintain cheek weld. Just need to make sure the front objective doesn't hit your rear open sight when sitting that low
