What kind of patterns are yall getting out of the win LB 3"#4's? What choke and gun are you shooting?
Rem 870 Sm 3" long beard #4 1 3/4 oz
137 in the 10"
217 in the 20"
40 yards lazered
65 Degrees out
26" with Hevi choke .662
Seems like I have always got a bettern pattern with #4 with a Mod or Full choke.
Owlhoot that's a smoking pattern with #4s!!! I hope my benelli or winchester will shoot them like that.

I never cease to be amazed at patterns like this from 3" #4s. Winch LBs have changed the way we think about lead loads. Before they came out, you would be lucky to get 90/10 @ 40 yds with a 3" shell.
Post #46 here. My patterns http://oldgobbler.com/Forum/index.php/topic,43518.msg467851.html#msg467851
Top 2 on splatter targets are the #4 LB all ranges lazered.
I think its about 100 in the 10" circle at 40.
Rem 870 regular full length barrel
Rem Extended choke (generic one from 15yrs ago)
I use fiber optic iron sights
Thanks for the responses, as soon as this bad breaks and we get some warmer days I am going to try them out of my M2 and my Winchester 1300.. Not sure how they will like the .655 choke but the Winchester pattern simulator showed them shooting good out of the .655.. We will see
I'm torn on trying them myself. I'm deffinitely shooting 4's this year from an 835 20" barrel but have some patterning to do with different brands and weights. Hoping to find something on the cheaper end. However i know if i start with the longbeards i'll get lazy and not test the others at all.lol
If you can find some old Federal GrandSlams in 4 shot we used to get 120's-140 with the 835 and 935 guns and the old stardots.. This was with the 2 oz. 3 1/2" shells. Triple plus wads.
you are right, I have about 40-50 of those shells and a 835 with an old stardot choke
Thanks guys. I haven't run into those federal loads in a long long time but if i do i'll try them. I don't ever remember seeing that choke. I always go through the older stuff at any shop i walk into though. I did run across an old lohman longshot .680 choke for the .835. I'm really thinking about getting it. However the price on it isn't so old.lol
I got around 130-140 with 3" LB #4 @ 40 yrds. Shooting a Ben Nova 26" topped with a Carlson .665
im getting 130-150 with my 535 and a .665 patternmaster code black with the 28'' barrel but im using 3.5'' loads
I finally had a decent day to shoot a few days ago.. My Winchester 1300 22" barrel kicks .655 at 40 put 136 in a 9" circle..
Benelli M2 24" barrel kicks .655 at 40 put 94 in a 9" circle.. going to order me a pattern master for the benelli and give it a try
Shot the 3.5 #4 yesterday out of my SBEII with a IC 665 and got 147 in a 11x8 Primos splatter target at 40yds.

well that 1300 is a head wrecking machine now :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright:
I'm shooting a Mossberg 835 24" ported with a .676 Hevi-13 choke. My best pattern to date is 165 in 10" at a laser ranged 40 yds with the long beard 3 1/2" #4's . The two other shots that day were 148 and 154 in 10"/40. Temp was 51 degrees. Best pattern with the .683 Carlson long beard choke was 137 in 10"/40. Also with #4's . Indian creek on the way . Can't wait to test it .
