Title: New Vest
Post by: C.M.D on February 19, 2015, 02:23:24 PM
Hello All!

I'm new here but learning a ton.  Thankful this page exists.

I'm going to be buying a new vest for the spring season and have it narrowed down to two vests and am wanting y'alls opinions.  My choice will either bee the Cabela's Tactical Tat'r 2 or the Tenzing TZ TV14 vest.  Looking for something that's going to last awhile and I know Tenzing is known for their quality (but your going spend for it). The difference in price is minimal between these two vests.

All suggestions will be appreciated!

Thanks!

I just ordered the TZ TV14 on Monday. I have Super Elite III that I have been using a long time and its been great my only problem with it was the striker holders until I sewed them up and I really like the idea of the magnetic seats they have now.

My fathers uses the Tactical Tat'r 2 and seems to like it quite well but its not different or better enough then the Super Elite III for me to wan't to get one. Tenzing has put a lot into their stuff for hunting and it seems like a nice new idea that I am willing to try. Been doing a lot of homework on it. I like the TP14 as well but its price is a lot for something I dont really need. I hunt in Oregon and have no shortage of trees to put my back against so the kick stands don't really do it for me. I was able to find the TZ14 for $140 instead of $180 at Wing Supply so that helped in my decision to be a guinea pig.

Obviously I have no experience with the new Tenzing pack but I do with the Tatr and the only reason I am not getting one is because its not different enough then my current vest. If I dont like the TZ14 I will send it back and pick up the Ol' Tom Time and Motion I Beam V. 2.0

TeamCF-  Will you report back when you receive that vest?  I haven't found anyone that's actually touched the Tenzing.

Thanks!

Will do, I could not find any information on them at all except for a few videos of the $300 TP14. They seem innovative and new something I like a lot and hopefully it wont be something I want to send back.

Knight system turkey vest. A lot like the old mossy oak limb hanger but with all kind of extras.

Lots of threads here similar to this.  Do a search for "vest" or "tatr" and read the opinions.

+1 Tatr II

You and Billy cost me $187. Saw Billy's and had to get one. Still love my Limbhangers though

I don't like the direction vests are heading. Who wants all that metal on their backs? How quiet can you be with all those legs and braces? It's nuts. What's wrong with a good old tree? You can't even find a descent vest anymore. I look every year and they just get worse! I keep sewing my old vest because I can't find anything worth buying, and I would pay plenty for one. I wish there was a custom vest maker out there.
