Man I'm so fired up about the season I can hear em gobblin already. Just was wondering how many has been practicing and if yall are as fired up as me!!! Hope everyone has a good safe season!!

Hahaha. I need to practice with a mouth call more but I've tried and I just can't get the hang of it. Love my pot and box calls though
I have alot lately. Only thing answering is the old hen I live with. "Shut up, can't you go outside" and my favorite " I can't wait for turkey season then you won't be here blowing your turkey whistles" haha I love this time of year. :you_rock:
:newmascot: My wife puts up with some, but my soon to be 8 year old has started, and we all know how relentless 8 year olds are. Problem is our temps here have been in single digits and the wind has been howling. Boy do those calls echo in my house, lol. I am glad I have a good woman. Al Baker
Every morning on the way to work. I should video some of the dumbfounded looks I get at red lights.
I pulled out some pot calls over the weekend and started with them. Pulled out the mouth calls last night. My wife said "it's only February and you are already starting this crap?" I respond by saying babe I'm headed to Florida in 29 days, it's like April 1 in my mind. That was not the right answer so I practiced on the way to work this morning.
Yep I've started, wife doesn't mind too much shes a turkey hunter and my 6 month old loves the noises shes gonna be a regular bird slayer some day.
I'm also watching turkey hunting videos while running on the treadmill.. lol :turkey2:
Been hitting my calls pretty regular all winter. Mouth calls in the truck. Pots and trumpet in the basement.
I thought I was the only one, my "hen" said it sounds like fingernails on a chalkboard to her, sounds like a sweet love song to me. Needless to say, I have to wait until she is out of the house to practice. :camohat:
Keep mine in the truck and as a newbie, been practicing with them sinc October. I actually might sound like a hen. LOL

Same here. I put in my natural turkey cd and practice all the way to work.
I've been running em pretty steady for a month or so.
I never put turkey calls aside. I run at least 2 calls a day, year round, for at least 15 minutes or so each day...
Same with archery, I shoot 5 quality shots from my bow every day, year round.
I try and practice year round..... But I do put in more time usually staring right after Christmas.

Nah, I don't practice too much. I'd get too good, and those gobblers would be like, "Hey! She sounds too hot to be interested in me." ;)
It's contest season so I've been running em.
Been practicing some. I have some mouth calls in my jacket pocket and practice some while driving at work.
I run my pot calls all year long. I'll get the mouth call out a few days before season starts & get back in tune. Lately been trying to learn to run a scratch box.
Nope, never have practiced much, no reason to start now!

^^Same here. I keep mouth calls from last year's turkey season in my truck and practice as I go down the road. Work with box & pot calls a few evenings each week. I also break in new mouth calls a little before turkey season so I'm ready to roll come GO time.

There is seldom a day that I don't at least run a pot call. I'm running trumpets right now.
Almost every single day I try to run a mouth call for the last few years,makes a difference :icon_thumright:
Practicing on my new sscalls box every day since I got it, gonna do some scouting when deer season ends in about 10 days or so.

Year round, but definitely more now!!
I practice year round and never loose my turkey fever! I love it and the addiction never goes away or eases up! I gave up deer hunting years ago and stuck with turkey hunting and grouse hunting....grouse hunting is the only thing that gets me through the winter! I have absolutely no desire to kill another deer...regardless of the size! I don't think you can practice enough and I love practicing anyway! Don't want this....

Sounds like my life !!!
This will be my 4th oy 5th year with a trumpet. I practised my first year with it and used and killed a turkey or 2 each each year with a trumpet since. My wife started last year, no more calling in the house. So that stopped me, I got my trumpet out the other day and can"t do a consistant keekee anymore. In Georgia we only have a spring season and I know a kee kee is a fall call for young birds, but the kee kee here in the spring is what fires a Tom up. It makes me think "Chester" in the back of my head. Nasty Ole Tom wanting some of that young stuff!
Start? I call all year Have about lost a wife over it in some of the bad weather times when I elected to be inside. I have lot of calls and always looking for more so have to break them in
