Title: 835 and ssx
Post by: Tbrady835 on February 07, 2015, 03:15:33 PM
I will post pattern pics later under appropriate section, but right now I just have to tell someone!!! I finally got my hands on some longbeard #5 shot, and sent it down range through my mossy 835 and .670 SSX, and I couldn't be happier!! I shot two shots at 40, and 1 was 187 and the other was 188 in the ten!!!! Don't know what y'all think but that's quite a few number 5's going to ol toms noggin. :jackson:

Sounds like awesome numbers, I bet with the new weight in the longbeards the numbers will climb even higher!

I have the same gun and a ssx choke as well, but i shot yesterday and used # 6s and it was great but not as good a pattern as you had, windy here yesterday, but I will try again next week. its the first time out with my new 835 and using LBs,but I was still impressed with my initial testing

The crazy thing is, the reason I got the ssx choke was bc I planned on shooting 3.5/ 2/6, bc there were some guys on here usin 835 ssx and longbeard 3.5" 6 shot and they were getting in the 250's in the ten at forty, but my gun won't pattern the 6 shot like that I didn't have hardly any more 6 shot in the ten at forty than I did with the 5's , that's why I stepped down to five shot was just curiosity to see what the numbers would be and boy I'm glad I did!!! Another thing is a lot of people talk about having a clean barrel and all, I guess some guns like clean barrels but I shot those two patterns yesterday and there was at least a box of longbeard only shells through it without so much as a patch ran through it, the 835 is due up for a good clean and I'm gonna reshoot those 5 and 6's and I will let you know what the results are.
