I want to put a new rail on my 11-87. I had it drilled and tapped a few years ago to mount a red-dot and the Weaver rail the smith installed will not accept a FF3 base ( slots are not deep enough ). I have seen on here the idea of using a Warne 2 piece and just using the rear base. My question with that is...Does the mount for the FF3 hang over the ends of the base? I was also wondering if anyone had used the Burris Xtreme 2 piece base for a FF3 and how that worked.
I believe the screw pattern the smith used on my gun was the standard Remington 700 hole pattern, so that is what I am working with. I sent a message to Burris customer service, asking about their Xtreme bases, over a week ago and did no0t receive a response.
