Title: Band saw
Post by: Spur806 on January 27, 2015, 06:15:40 PM
Hey guys, ready to make a new investment in a new bandsaw, 16 or 18 inch, ideas? What's everyone using if anyone is this big, I got a metal saw, jet 14 inch from work, but won't accept big blades, looking for a bigger wood saw, and if anyone is interested in a jet vbs-1408 let me know, thanks

I have a Grizzly 14" and love it. Havent checked out anything bigger, but I also have a Grizzly cabinet saw and like it as well.

I just bought a Delta 17-950L floor model off of craigslist.  I looked for along time, and when it came up, I jumped on it.  Like new condition for 1/2 the price.  It had the longer quill travel than others I looked at, as well as the lower spindle speeds.  Keep an eye out on craigslist, they have pretty good deals sometimes.

I have a 14" Jet with a 6" riser block, I can cut anything I can lift up to the table, and I have used 3/4" blades on it many times. I bought it nearly 9 years ago and it is still going strong, I did make one change I bought a set of Carter Bearing guides for it.
