Ive developed a scratch call that was handed down to me by and old friend who made these. He found the original back in the 60's hanging in the attic of a abandoned 1850 house in Sharpsburg Pa. He figured its age civil war period. It plays unbelievable on pot call but can be played with just a piece of slate. I will be selling them for $15 plus shipping.
I like using my strikers but this scratch call has won me over for the tone and intensity of the sound.

The call is "Old faithful" the original. Both side play. Old Faithful original was walnut. I do use maple , hickory , purple heart but 70% are made from walnut

Wayne Carlton sold these calls that Keith Casteel made for him. The call has a long time following and proven reputation

Me too! Cool story to go with that call. Nice scratcher.
I feel I need to make a public apology to paboxcall. We were talking about scratch calls and I quoted him a different price which was a number I was dealing with at the time with a customer in the shop. I wrote down the price of the idem I was selling and quoted Jeff that price. My mistake , I've already apologized to Jeff and wanted to make a public apology to him.
I've been in business to many years and have a great deal of respect for everyone I deal with. As you would see from the referrals I have with my business. Colonial Restoration Studio and from guys I have done business here.
Once again Jeff I'm sorry it didn't work out.
Dave Hawksford
I picked up two of these from Dave. One Hickory and one maple. These are old school calls with some very nice turkey in them with the Hickory being favorite. I tried them as Dave stated on one of my pot calls with great results but he does include a square piece of slate with the calls. Thanx again Dave.
Thanks callmaker.
