I'm wanting to upgrade my decoy collection for the upcoming season and I'd like to here your thoughts on a good decoy that won't break the bank. So DSD are out of the picture for me for sure. The new avian x rio decoys look nice but I'm gonna try to spend less or the other half might kill me. What are yalls thoughts on the hs snood series? Any other suggestions on good mid priced decoys.
I've heard the snood's leak. I've had success with the cheap Primos ones.

The hen snood I purchased leaked, if I would have read reviews like I normally do then I would never have bought it. Midway made up for it though. Great company!

Is there not a quick fix for the snoods leaking issue?
I could have stopped it from leaking, but thought that for $50+ I should not have to fix it for them. I exchanged it.

What decoys do you have now that you are trying to upgrade?
I have some old buckwing hens and a hardcore hen. I also have the pretty boy full strut. Just looking for a more realistic pattern and paint scheme. I'm not real impressed with the pretty boy, I think I'd rather go with a smaller jake decoy. I'm in Texas so I'll be after rios.
Here is a decent looking Jake.

With what you saved on the Jake go ahead and get an Avian Hen. I think you would come out cheaper than buying a jake and hen snood.

That is one I was interested in, it would probably pair with my hardcore hen until I can slowly build a collection of dsd's.
This a cheap one from Gander Mountain. It can be rolled up and stuffed into a backpack. I gave it a make over with some paint. I will continue to use until I am able get a DSD Leading hen or a Deception Outdoors Boss hen. http://oldgobbler.com/Forum/index.php/topic,24482.msg264220.html#msg264220
I use DSD and just buy one or 2 hens.
Start slow buddy. Sometimes buying cheaper decoys isn't always the answer. I've had hens and toms coming running into just one feeding DSD hen I had out. So lifelike. Just wish they were a little bigger but maybe the small size is the key.
It was worth me selling all my others and buying one at a time.

Yeah that's kinda what I was thinking about doing. Some decoys that caught my eye are the new avian x species specific decoys. You can get a pair for the price of one dsd. Why can't they just make one so the decision would be easier haha.
