Title: Tennessee public land questions.
Post by: birdyhunter on January 12, 2015, 10:26:06 PM
I'm new to Tn this year and have a couple of questions regarding the public land and turkey hunting. I live in Murfreesboro and I deer hunted the land around Percy priest this fall however I can't find much info on turkey hunting. Is it a draw hunt or what permits do I have to have? I've lived in Florida and nc and all of their public land was draw only.

Almost all the public land is open every day. You will just need a WMA permit.

I'm not sure about Percy Priest, but 30 minutes down I24 is AEDC. As previous mention, you'll need a WMA permit, but it is open to hunt every weekend of season. The hunts are typically Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Some units may be closed during some hunts, but there is plenty room to roam. Put in a little pre-season scouting and you should find some birds. good Luck and message me if you need more info.

Thanks guys I really appreciate the info! I'm lookin forward to chasing these tn long beards around. Not used to having a 4 bird limit so that's a real improvement from 2.
