Title: Zink/AvianX Bought Out
Post by: jblackburn on January 09, 2015, 10:58:37 AM
Just saw a video on Facebook featuring Eddie Salter and Matt Morrett at the ATA show that announced that Flextone (or its parent company) bought out Zink/AvianX.  I wonder how this will change things for Zink.

Nothing will change as their products will continue to be made in China and I would expect their sub-par quality will only get worse as time goes on.

This was released on January 6th

"Plano Synergy Outdoors, the leading manufacturer of hunting, fishing and other outdoor related products announces its purchase of Zink Calls, Avian-X and 24/7 Productions. Zink Calls and Avian-X are leaders in the premium waterfowl call, turkey call, A-Frame blind and hunting decoy categories. With field tested products, the long-term mission of Zink Calls and Avian-X is to promote waterfowl and turkey hunting to the consumer in a traditional, ethical, responsible, and enjoyable manner.

The acquisition of Zink Calls and Avian-X, along with its existing brands, enhances Plano Synergy's ability to provide retailers with a one-stop shop for all waterfowl-hunting accessory and product needs. Tom Hurt, President & CEO at Plano Synergy comments, "The brands are a natural fit for the growth of Plano Synergy. They represent best of class in innovation and quality- driven products that consumers and retailers demand, while at the same time complementing our existing position within the category. The addition of Zink Calls and Avian-X helps to further our position as the nation's premier hunting and fishing outdoor products company."

"Plano Synergy's pattern of purchasing and further developing major brands within the industry aligns with our long-term strategic growth objectives. It will be our focus to keep the brands true to their core, while taking them to the next level," says Fred Zink, President. "Further, and very important to us when considering a sale, is the desire of Plano Synergy to keep the operation intact and maintain the team that has been responsible for building and maintaining the Zink Calls and Avian-X personalities. We are all very excited about this new partnership, and look forward to a limitless future together."

Plano Synergy plans to maintain the operational presence in Port Clinton, OH,
the current home of Zink Calls and Avian-X. The sales team and management executives will continue to manage key aspects of the company under the Plano Synergy platform. Plano Synergy will relocate basic back office and related
activities to their Dallas, TX operations hub.

Plano Synergy Holding, Inc. is the leading US manufacturer and marketer of
tackle boxes, equipment protection cases, crossbows, archery bows, game cameras, tree stands, ground blinds, food plot seeds, attractants, hunting packs, game calls, game feeders, metal detectors, and rangefinders for outdoor enthusiasts. For more than a half-century, Plano Synergy brands and products have inspired people to engage in outdoor pursuits throughout the world."

I have no doubt that will be the case for many of the products. I'm more wondering about the calls, especially the diaphragm calls.  I don't personally used them, but my impression is they are decent calls.

I had HIGH HOPES for the Michael Waddell Spur Collector call, but ...  http://youtu.be/2FWiNvYjldA  ...  I didn't think I sounded all that good w/it...  and, it was very, very poor quality; literally after the 2nd or 3rd time I messed around with it, the tape started to separate on it...  I really wanted this call to work out for me 'cause it was dirt cheap @ Wally World...  Oh well...

Another reason why true custom calls are the best choice every time.

I agree with that!  Custom all the way!  All my calls are custom calls now including my mouth calls I order from a custom call maker in FL...best mouth calls I've ever used and have been using them going on 5 yrs now and I've been using mouth calls alittle over 20 yrs now and have tried a truck load!

God bless

Anything the busbice clan gets their hands on turns into cheap junk. Hopefully I'm wrong on this one because I was really set on buying some avian x mallard decoys before next season.

If you like the Avian x mallards check out the DOA floaters.   Better paint, and better ride on the water

Can't stand the Busbice clan and would never touch anything they have a hand in. When they do an out door show Matt and Bill really make all of us hunters look like dopes and I cant believe Michael Waddel can feel good pushing the Flextone junk as good turkey calls. JMO

Ya it drives me crazy walking by their massive both (plano synergy now) at the ata show every year.  Last day of it this year one of the boys was looking at some hunting seats and I thought to myself there is something else they are going to buy.  I talked to one of the zink guys cant remember his name have his card at the shop but, before we walked out of the booth he assured me that nothing would change.
