Title: Anybody tried a pair of these snake boots yet?
Post by: handcannon on March 20, 2011, 03:28:48 PM
I'm looking to get my son a pair of snake boots. I dont want to spend a ton of money on a high dollar pair of boots cause his foot is still growing like the rest of his body. He's 14 and is a hair over 6' wearing a size 11 already. It's a new boot to BPS and was just curious if anyone had picked up a pair yet. Thanks.

Haven't tried those boots but for the same price you can get the cabela's goretex snake boots.  I have had a set of those for 3 years now without an issue.  Also another option would be to get the snap on snake gators.  adjust to anysize foot, and only about 50 bucks.

Save up a little more money and go with the Danner Pronghorn Snakeboot.  Awesome boot and comfortable as heck.

If you want to have wet feet buy them!! I have had three pair in 2 years and they all leaked after about a week of hunting. I keep returning them and geting another pair thinking maybe it was just a fluke.I'm done with that think i will buy a pair of Danner.

I have yet to find a "waterproof" boot that doesn't eventually leak. I've had Rocky's, had Gortex, and I finally just went with the Bass Pro Readhead lace up snake boots. You can get them for $80 to 90, they are lightweight, very comfortable and durable. My 1st pair lasted 2 years until they sprang a minor leak in 1 boot, now I use them for hunts in drier areas. My next pair is starting its 3rd season with no leaks yet. For the price, you really can't beat 'em.

I have a pair very similar except mine have a suede foot. I am getting ready to start my 5th season with them(both turkey and early deer bow season). Mine have been good boots. Granted I don't STAND in water with them but crossing dew wet fields and creek crossings I have never had a problem with wet feet. Good boot for the money IMO. I would not hesitate on getting another pair when needed.

I've had those exact boots now for 2 years and so far my feet have always stayed dry and they are very comfortable.  Also I have two friends that have them and they've been happy with them as well.

This is my second season in mine. They are very comfortable and are pretty snug around the ankles, which prevents them from slipping. They are very true to size, so be careful about going a size up on them. I treat all my snake boots with a coat of waterproofing gel, and these have done a good job of staying dry inside, even when crossing through muddy/wet swamp bottoms.

Handcannon, I was thinking of getting the same kind about 2 weeks ago. I went to BP, and talked to a manager in the footwear dept. He told me DO NOT buy the Redhead Brand in any kind of waterproof footwear. He said they have so many returns its not worth takin the chance.........coming from a guy that sells them I went with the Cabela's slip-on's. They was the only ones I found with a year warranty, everything else was 6 months..........I don't have any complaints after 4 days.

I appreciate it guys. That info helped. Reason why I was going with BPS is that I can cash in some of my frequent flyer miles I get while going back and forth to work for BPS gift cards. I like free stuff! Thanks again.
