Title: Remington 870 New Look
Post by: grayfox on January 07, 2015, 12:26:15 AM
Just recently finished giving my 870 a new look. Wrapped it in the Mossy Oak Camo skins, put a new picatinny rail on with a new UltraDot sight. Just got to sight it in & it will be ready for spring turkey season. My camo job ain't perfect but I'm really impressed with the camo skins. I was going to have it dipped but thought I'd give the skins a try after a lot of guys here on the forum liked them. Thanks to Skeeterbait for all the info on the UltraDot sight.

Thanks for the kind words. That Magpul stock was the worst part of it.

Really like that magpul on there looks great and so does the gunskin ally rigs are covered in m I graphics I will not pay to have another dipped the skins look better to me and last forever and if you mess a part of it up somehow replace it if you dip starts screwing up well it's over with!!

I love the Magpul stock on my 870. You can adjust the LOP by adding & removing spacers that come with it. Also you can buy a comb height kit for your particular height you need according to the type of sight you have on it. The only negative I've found is they are heavier than a regular stock & more difficult to put the camo skins on.

I have a Beretta I had dipped a few years ago & it's already showing some signs of wear on the stock & it's only been used on maybe a half dozen dove hunts & a couple of turkey hunts so I was not pleased with the way it has lasted. Being able to make repairs myself is what I like about the camo skins plus it's a lot cheaper. Cost me $53.95 including shipping for the camo job. I bought 2 ft. by 4 ft. so I would have some extra left. This stuff seems pretty tough too so time will tell.

I've had a gunskin on my 835 for two turkey seasons and hunted hard with it and it still looks new, I covered my deer rifle in infinity before season this year and it still looks new as well like I said I think it will outlast most dip jobs, my 835 was dipped in break up when I bought it and I put an obsession skin on it for 30$ and like I said still looks new after two years if you take your time with those gunskins the sky is the limit you can make them look FACTORY!!!

Mine has no storage in the end. It has a plastic part with a slot in it to adjust for different LOP. Here's a pic below but it's the one that accepts the original Reminton butt pads.
