Title: Old Fans
Post by: oltom on September 18, 2014, 05:47:17 PM
Got a random question.  I have an old Rio fan that's been in the freezer since 2006 and a bunch of other Eastern fans from various years.  I'd like to let it thaw out now so that I can let it dry and hang like normal.  Do you all think it'd still be ok?  I normally just take one straight from the bird and spread it out and let it dry with borax, etc...but I've got to get these old fans out of the freezer.  Thanks......

Yes it should be OK. If it's freezer burned it will be stiff but you can set the meat end of the tail in a little water and it will soften up so you can open the fan.

Thanks Joe.  That's kindly what I was thinking but thought I'd ask others.....

It will be fine.  Unfortunately I don't have enough wall space and I have a chest freezer full of fans dating back to about that same time.  Hopefully one day, I'll have a place where I can display them all.

Me neither HartClemson99. That's why they're all in the freezer.  But I'm just hoping one day.  Lol. But I'm going after my Osceola this next spring and then some have to come out then.  Lol

They'll be fine, but they won't taste as good.  ;)
