Title: porcinis and chanterelles
Post by: Rapscallion Vermilion on August 17, 2014, 11:57:43 AM
Fall mushroom season is just getting going in New Mexico and it looks to be a good year, especially for the porcini (king bolete, cep, steinpilz, ...)
My wife and I picked for 5 hours yesterday and this was our haul.

Looks like some good eatin' there Mike.  I wish I had enough confidence in my ability to tell the good ones from the bad, but alas, I do not.  We will just have to trust the folks at the stores.
(Good to see you last night....)

Hey Jim, we had a great time at the banquet.  Glad we went.

These two are pretty safe, but I used to feel the same way. David Arora's pocket guide is a great start for our area.
