Title: Burris Speeddot
Post by: ccleroy on June 22, 2014, 03:05:50 PM
Anyone here use the Burris Speeddot? It shows it is a 1x35 with a 3 moa dot. All my red dots have been no magnification, so I'm not sure how I'll like it, anyone with bag insight would be helpful. And if there is anyone willing to part with one let me know.

Thanks
Ricky

Burris Fastfire 3 has no magnification and a lifetime warranty, buy you one, you will be glad you did.

I had a Burris Speedot on a prior turkey gun and loved it. 3 MOA dot was perfect for turkey hunting, and 1x magnification worked out nicely.  A lot of much cheaper units out there made to look like Burris, but you find a better unit.  Highly recomended!

1x magnification = 0 magnification, when viewed through the lens the target will appear actual size, not magnified.

The Burris SpeedDot, unlike many cheaper red dot scopes, utilizes the highest quality glass which provides a distortion free image and dot even on the edge of the field of view.  The 1x magnification is of absolutely no consequence and cannot be discerned when looking through the scope, and the 3 moa dot is highly visable on bright days without occluding the target.

It's a great sight and highly underrated and doesn't get the consideration it should.

I have used one on my turkey gun for a LONG time.  It has never failed me.

It is a little bulky compared to the reflex-type sights.  As I've posted on SCD before I use a cheek rest because I don't like a chin weld with turkey loads.

The SpeedDot which I bought @ 8 years ago came w/ a screw-on sun shade which is a real bonus, especially on very bright days.  I have owned, and gotten rid of, one of the "cheaper" red dot scopes, and, in my experience, like on all optical devices, "you get what you pay for."  I have assisted several friends and hunters upgrading and mounting higher quality red dot scopes after they actually compared the optical image. field of view, and light gathering ability of some of the cheap scopes w/ higher quality red dots.
