Title: Pa Gobbling
Post by: longbeards on May 26, 2014, 08:30:04 PM
After hunting the last 50 or so days in Fla, NC, Mt, SD and WV I am headed up to finish off with 3 days in Pa,,,Washington area....

Are the birds gobbling there?? I bet they are about as wore down as I am!!

You are coming at a good time now.  This has been a crazy year with the best hunting for us at least coming later in the season.

Stay late.  I killed my PA bird Saturday at 6pm.  Best gobbling I heard all day, and he came in on a string.  Just be prepared to cover some ground to find a bird in the right mood.

Take advantage of all day hunting we now have and stick with it. They most likely won't burn the house down all day but could lite up at any time.

Thanks Guys,

It has been a tough spring for me East of the Mississippi till I returned to WV,,,hit the last 4 days here and tagged out!
Hope to add one more to this season,,I retired 2.5 months ago and went on the turkey hunt I have always dreamed about!

Thanks Again,

Yep, still gobbling. The more aggressive birds have been thinned out some by now however.  Saturday is our final for the season.

I think the last several days will be the best. My son crushed this bird this morning. We have worked this bird several times early in the season. Only to have him whip us, now I see why...

Gobbling hard on this, the last morning.

They wouldn't do anything but be ignorant.  But they gobbled like fools.

Yoder,
My last two days where in the Washington area of Pa,,,,Thursday evening and Friday no gobbling at all...Saturday heard 4, 3 of which only gobbled once or twice on the roast,,,worked a bird who had hens and called to a longbeard I walked up on in a hay field,,,he didn't see me,,and was able to call to him from a good set up,,,he would look at me then go right back to feeding along,,,,

Benn a Great Spring for Me,,,,killed birds in WV,Mt, WY!!
