Title: williams fire site
Post by: cluck on May 05, 2014, 10:59:09 PM
I have a set of williams fire sites mounted on a 28" remington 12 gauge. I have the rear site beyond the max. elevation marks located on the side of it. My question is should I move the rear site rearward so that I could bring the rear site back down? The ventalated rib is at its hightest point nearest the chamber end off the barrel. I believe I could bring it back another 5" to 7".   Many thanks, cluck

Yes move the rear closer to the receiver on the gun. I found that on the longer barrells they work perfect about 4 inches in front of the receiver (Usually at the 3rd tab where the rib is welded to the barrell. I always push the sight againest the tab where it mounts to the barrell this keeps it from going foward in recoil and you can always tell if they ever move. Also you can run the ramp on the rear sight above the last mark it wont hurt anything at all, you can usually take it about 4-5 marks past the last mark. I hope this helps!
