Title: NYS Public Land
Post by: Amoz87 on May 01, 2014, 12:13:41 AM
Has anyone had an success turkey hunting on state land in NY?  I am looking at Cranberry Mountain specifically but anywhere in the lower region of the state would also be nice.

There is a ton public land in NYS. A lot of it is heavily hunted but if you put in some time, scout via aerials and by foot you will definately be able to find turkeys in most of NY state lands. The only state lands I am not familiar with are those in the ADK region.

Tons of state land in NY. If you do some research you can find some very un hunted areas.
The closer you gwt to the city the more pressure the lanf will have.

SW part of the State is good. Put the time in scouting and you will have birds to yourself. Lots of birds up N but not as much public land.
