Title: Back in the day...
Post by: tha bugman on April 28, 2014, 11:20:39 AM
What was considered a good pellet count when all we used was full chokes and lead shot?  I remember as a kid taking a newspaper tracing my arm and hand (turkey neck and head) and shooting that at 30 yards and saying well that looks good (evenly distributed) but never did count how many holes were in a 10" circle at 40 yards.

Good question. You might want to move to the general forum. You will get some answers there. :anim_25:

I think that your question for back when is answered by what we thought was good enough.Ben Lee did suggest a Coke can ( That meant Coca-Cola, Pepsi, etc.) at about 30 yards and if you could hit it with 6-8 pellets or more you were good to go. His choice was a full choke and #4s. Heck, back in those days it would have taken the whole clan to provide enough fingers and toes to count up all the shot we can now days put into a 10" circle.
