I have a pure death call from steve reeves of supreme calls. Was wondering if anyone on here has or has used one of his strut buster pot calls and how you like it. Thanks
No. I don't have one. I ordered and paid for one in June 2013 and still haven't got it. I will let you know when I get it.

Nope 2 to 3 month is what I was told and that's what he's got on his website
I had ordered a pure death and a strut buster 2 years ago. after 11 months I called and got a refund. I made a deal with someone on the pure death I have now. was thinking about re ordering the strut buster but it still seems that it takes a reeeeeal long time to get so I don't know if im gonna pull the trigger.
Even if he is the Picasso of turkey call makers.. that is way too long to wait in my opinion. There are countless custom call makers out there that build awesome stuff ....and will have sent to you in a few weeks at the latest.
Some can get calls built in short order and some (myself ) have full time jobs and never seem to have enough time to build calls with everything else in life that comes along. Bottom line is I never take any money for a call until it's built and believe a call maker should not ask you to pay before the build. Doing so and falling behind on orders just pisses people off.

No. He said he was a couple months behind. I said no big deal(keep in mind, this is in June) as long as I get them by the first of March I don't care. He indicated that wouldn't be a problem.
I honestly don't have a problem waiting on the call, IF he had said up front it's gonna take 2 years to make them. Instead, I look on the porch everyday when I get home like a nerd.
I spoke with him at the end of February and he said I would have them by March 15th. I then spoke with him again about the first week of April and he said I would get them real soon. He also clarified the matter and told me that, "I would get them when I get them."
Certainly doesn't sound like someone I'd want to do business with.....

Yes you have to pay then wait for a call that your told 2 to 3 month for as of now I have been waiting 11 month and not seen the calls I have paid for this is why I no longer order calls from maker's I don't know

That would have done it for me. People like that shouldn't be in business.

I don't think he really cares guys. I emailed Mr. Reeves with my concerns regarding the unorthodox practice of having to pay for a call at the time of order as well as there being some current negative feedback regarding his turnaround time/customer service. I suggested to Mr. Reeves that this would be the reason I personally wouldn't be ordering a call. I had spoken with Mr. Reeves on the phone prior to my knowledge of the aformentioned issues and wanted on his list. I felt as a consumer it was only fair to explain my reasoning and fully expected a response indicative of a business owner concerned about customer service/positive business practices. My only returned response from Mr. Reeves was "Good luck this season". Does that suggest the kind of response indicative of giving a sh#^*t? You decide...
And I do realize this probably isn't his full time job but when you take money up front you are automatically obligated to delivering product in a reasonable time as well as employing quality customer service. If that can't be provided, you probably shouldn't be in business...
well I really want a strut buster so I broke down and ordered one today. I hope I get it before next turkey season but im not holding my breath lol.
I'm not waiting a year for anything. And based on the comments above ...don't know why anyone would want to do business with him anyway. Especially when there are a hundred other call makers that will custom make you a seriously nice call for $50..... and send it to you in a few weeks.
I ordered a wood duck call that took 2 and a half years to come. I contacted him many times and he said he shipped. it I wrote it off as a loss and it finally showed up. I also half a strut buster and a pure death that took over a year to show up really nice calls but not worth the wait in my opinion plenty of awesome callmakers here that will get you a great call real quick

I ordered a couple in June 2013. They haven't arrived yet. I texted him last week and he replied that they were going to be shipped out on Monday(tomorrow). The calls will come in real handy in June and July! O0

Way to many great call makers out there to tolerate this.
This is a depressing thread to read through. As a newer call maker myself, I did want to chime in on the "collecting money before making your call" topic discussed here a few times...
This is generally how I conduct business when making calls for others as well, so feedback is definitely welcomed. For me, this is more of a hobby than anything... I make the calls here at my home. In my eyes, asking the customer to prepay for the call makes sense, because once I start building a call I cannot reclaim the time or the materials used to make the call. Obviously I could always sell an unclaimed call to another customer, but I like allowing the customer the opportunity to personalize their calls a bit in the wood, soundboard and surface selection process.

I don't have a problem with giving the money up front at all. I have a problem with being told you will have the calls by March 15 and when June rolls around, you still don't have the calls. Keep in mind the calls were ordered in June of 2013.

Yeah, definitely not ok... I completely agree. Being that they're a paid advertiser on this site, I would have liked to see them respond to this thread, or have the moderators weigh in as well.
Honestly, if it were me and I was unable to get in touch with them, I would call my bank and request a charge back at this point.
Nothing wrong with paying up front as the call maker has expenses. Nothing wrong with waiting 20 years to get your call.... as long as the call maker told you this in advance. Personally I wouldn't wait longer than a month... there is nothing "so special" about any call to wait longer than that..
I just received 2 custom pot calls ... personal engraved with special artwork and all... from different makers. They took 2 and 3 weeks... and that was during turkey season I ordered.
Steve ( supreme ) calls are about one of the best sounding calls out there -- I have one and will relate that it is quite unique in design and sound compared to the majority of pot calls , it's not everyone's cup o' tea - but in the right hands they are undoubtedly effective ...and many people who own one , keep coming back to buy more
I'm not the public relations firm hired to communicate with the general public , but I will relay that Steve is a extremely busy individual , he does not at any time make any commitment that there is a short waiting period to get one of his calls - if you pay him you will get a call , but you will not get it in a week or instantly , he is not amazon.com
Of you want a call your just going to have to wait till he gets to you , if you don't want to wait email, call or whatever and he refunds your deposit - I've never not once hear of Steve shafting anyone on a call , he is highly reputable .....but busy
Just got the calls today. I will see how good they are in March.
