Want some names of some callmakers that make a good tube call. Also does the wood type really have anything to do with the sound or is it just a preference for appearance. Thanks
Matt McLain, Jason Schafer, Ralph Permar, Austy Bott, Jack "Pappy" Lewis.... I'm sure there are a few I'm forgetting...
Tube calls are becoming the go to call for many as moisture doesn't play a huge factor in how the call sounds. There are several good tube makers on here, do a search on tube call and you'll be loaded up with them. Wood choices doesn't seem to effect too much, the more denser the better as far as the call being sturdy. I insert a brass or aluminum or titanium insert in mine, this doesn't make a huge difference as far as being crisp.
Pappy's killer kegs are awesome! Just my .02

Pappy makes a fine tube call
I have 30+ tubes and Matt McLain is my "go to" tube. He has been making them for a long time.

Joe Slaton makes a good one. I've also heard a lot of good things about Matt McLain as well.

Yelp, Joe and Matt both make a good one.
Those barry makes with Doan's pill cans are killers. Having the metal at the reed and then breaking some of the high frequency out by placement of the hand around the section with holes makes the turkey killing sound.
