If you had the option of shooting any one of these shot sizes which would it be and why? Any help would be great!!!
I don't shoot hevi anymore but if I did it would be the 6's. Tried the 7's and had a bad experience on a bird with them. Probably a great shell, but I can't get past it. 5's just don't seem to have the pattern density. So....6's it is. Got in the 180 -190's with them.
My set up throws over 200+ with 6s and 250+ with 7s killed birds with both sizes no issues. Agree with jfair about 5s plenty of power but more than necessary so I prefer the smaller shot and extra pellets. With Hevi vs Lead it's about 2 sizes. 5=3, 6=4, 7=5
6 or 7's but I would lean toward the 7's because of the increase in pattern density. They carry plenty of energy at normal hunting ranges. Plus it never hurts to put more pellets into a gobblers head and neck.
I would go with 7 all day long. Awesome pattern.
Debatable between 6s and 7s, but I would forget about the 5s, way too much penetration at the expense of pattern density.
Thank you all for the feedback. Much appreciated!
7s, I like the big numbers and have seen what these loads can do.

My Beretta likes them too!
#7's for me all day long.
After seeing what they do to a bird from close to ranges past allowable on here and thats what I shoot from my 20 gauge, 12 gauge 3" and when I shot a 3.5" 12 gauge.
I shoot the 7s never had any issues
6 for hevi or even 5's
I don't think you can go wrong with either 6's or 7's. I've been using 6's for the past few seasons and crumpled birds from 20 to 46 yards. This season I shot the 7's and same results: crumpled birds at 35 and 25. I have a stockpile of the 6's so that's what I'll shoot in the future.
7's
I used them for years in 3" before switching to LongBeards ( only because of the price ). I always shot 5s or 6s and had no problems on any turkey I shot with either. Sure, the 6s put more holes in the paper but I couldn't tell the difference when shooting ole Tom.
In my remmy 870 express with rsf choke, either or works great. This year I shot 31/2 6s 21/4 ounce and have great numbers. Now turkeys disagree though lol

7's for me. They put up GREAT numbers at 40 and will give turkeys dirt naps right now. I shot a bird in South Dakota, last Saturday, at 38 lasered yards and the bird never moved after the shot. They definitely get the job done.
#6's and sometimes i use the 5's
Hevi 7's
289 in a 10 @ 40. 3/2/7's
333 in a 10 @ 40. 3/2.25/7's
*7's are a brutal load on the turkey inside 40yds. Never shot one past 40yds.
*Hunted with the Hevi 13 3" 6's for allot of years and they were business. 7's put so much shot in the turkey and I don't shoot longer distances so 7's is what I run most of the time. Have 6 boxes of 3/2/6's and 2 boxes of the 3" Magblends. Will hunt with those as well.
*the Hevi 13 3/2/6's and 3/2/7's are the most consistent HTL shells I have shot out of my Beretta's and Remington 870's. Can't go wrong with either one.
Every gobbler I ever harvested was taken with 6 shot and all were Winchester ammo. :OGturkeyhead:
7's are great, shoot em in a Jellyhead and SX2, get around 280 in a 10 at 40yd.Has killed up to and way past 40 yd. wish they made them a bit faster but other than that they kill great. 6's are good also but drop in numbers, killed a lot with them when Remington loaded them.
7's for me. :fud:
If I only had one choice I'd go with the #6s no doubt. They've got the knock down of lead 4s and there are still enough pellets to make a good dense pattern.
7's without a doubt

^Same thought.
I've killed turkeys with Hevi 6s or 7s and either one absolutely thumps 'em. I prefer the pattern density I get with #7s best. I shoot an SBE II with a TRuGlo SSX .643 choke. Every turkey I ever shot at with that combo has rode home with me.

If I was not shooting magblends I would be trying the 7's. I don't know though....them magblends are a sweet load and I may never try the 7's!

That's the answer..they are all good. See which one your gun likes.
What gun/choke are you shooting?
