What is your favorite call or calls for clucks, purrs and soft yelps?
I like the Friction Wood call or my Cody Woodsman slate with a Macassar Ebony striker.
If I'm using a pot call I prefer a slate for soft stuff but you can get pretty quiet on most of them. I think I can get pretty soft using HS Struts Split V III mouth call also and I like to use that when they get in close so I'm not moving.
For a friction call I like a scratch box or a Jet slate. A Bill Decker Wee Gripper works well too.
Mouth call is my Bacon.
I use the SS Sweetheart mouth call for most of my soft talk or I use my SS laminated slate over glass W/ a kwila wood striker.
A 2.5 reed Ghost cut mouth call. If I am in the friction mood for soft yelping, it is a plexi striker on one of my purr pots.
Ghost cut mouth call and/or a scratch box.
Mine would be a hot hen slate made by lonnie sneed. Definately a killer :smiley-char092:
Sadler McGraw Sig Ghost or a slate call. Gonna give Sadler's Purr Pot a run this season too.
I just lighten up with whatever pot I'm using.
Winky Hicks push button
Grand-dad's hand-made slate. He glued some small walnut pieces together with a very thin piece of slate on top. Worked for him ... works for me :z-winnersmiley:!
I also use a small pot made by Jimmie Putz from Iowa ... We miss ya Jimmie. He's gone-on to a far better place now.
A mouth call or a glass trough call made by Mr. Ford Mangum.
my old Billy White Raspy Slate
A Hot Hen Slate or the littler flat slate my Dad makes, guy on her call it a tree talker. Dad and I just call it a flat slate, for clucking, purring, and feeding calls. About any friction with less striker pressure works good.

Dad's Do-Dad.
Hands down!

I use the secondary on a dual pot call, on a glass over slate. Nothing comes close to the sound, sweet purrs and soft yelps are awesome.
Frictionwood
I don't have one specifically for soft stuff. Most calls will tone way down.
You can use just about any call to do the soft talk but with that being said I like using my SofTalker when I'm in real close. It has some of the sweetest clucks with a nice nasal soft yelps.(http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a336/callmakerman/DDAdams002.jpg) (http://s14.photobucket.com/user/callmakerman/media/DDAdams002.jpg.html)
most calls will do it all
Dead ends batwing 2 mouth call. Excellent for soft calling
Most any call can soft talk, but a slate call is tough to beat for me
My quarter sawn Sycamore short box the Full Choke, brings em in close. Spot on soft sweet purrs and clucks. Even that soft click Toms will make on the final approach.
