Just got this gun, got a Rob Roberts 655 in it and it is shooting like 8 inches low from 40 yards. Tried it from 20 and 30 and same thing. Even switched out the chokes and same thing. I know I can fix it with a FF3 but I'm worried about it shooting this way since it will be a back up duck gun. Any ideas besides bending the barrel?

First of all welcome to OG. This is a great place and I know you'll enjoy it here.
That was very common with the early H&K SBEs. Mine also shot very low. You should have a shim kit with that gun and by using the proper shim, that will help some. If you don't have the shims, you should be able to get them from Mann & Son Sporting Goods (Since 1946) at 618.357.2911.
Then you can put a stick-on pad on the comb that may be able to take out the rest.
They are great guns. I still have my first one, a 1991 model.

Tried the shims and it didn't help... Maybe I'll put on a speed bead . I just sold my sbe2 to help fund my new duck gun ....SBE2 waterfowl performance shop gun... Maybe I should have waited till after turkey season before selling it! Lol

Call Benny Hill at triangle shooting sports. 3- gun shooters are finding out that the mag tubes aren't installed correctly on these guns causing the poi to be off. There is some talk of this on Brian's forum's. They have a new jig to straighten this out.

Been there and done that...
If you have one of the old ones with the flat or level rib the only real solution other than selling it is to not aim flat down the rib....I'd try a Comp N Choke XXX full to be sure the choke wasn't part of the 8" problem.
Try holding your head a little higher where you see the top back half of the rib...imagine stacking the front bead on top the center one that might get you a little closer.
8 inches low is a lot...If it was mine I'd probably pass it on to a duck hunter they'd most likely never notice.
8" at 40 yards corresponds to about 1/6 of an inch change in your eye height. Most shooters hold their heads higher when wingshooting than when aiming with the bead. I would try it against a pattern board before changing anything. Mount smoothly and quickly, just as you would in the field, point at the dot, and pull the trigger. Don't aim. Do this three or four times to get an average. This will tell you where you will likely shoot when duck hunting.
