Title: Hunting near Zephyrhills, Florida
Post by: strutnzone on March 27, 2014, 10:53:52 PM
My dad owns a winter home in Zephyrhills and I am thinking about coming down from Indiana to chase some long beards.  Is there any good public land nearby?  Any information to steer me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Zephyrhills is only about 15 to 20 miles from Green Swamp WMA. Pretty decent area, around 50,000 acres if I remember right. I use to live real close to there. A lot of people would show up there from up north every year trying for a osceola.

My great granddad had a dairy farm there! Still have some relatives who live in Zepher Hills, I've never been there but plan on going someday. My Grandad sold his share of the property in the late 70s I think. Saw some pictures  of the place from the  1930s, it was pretty cool! Good luck this season...ward

Thanks for the info.  I don't think I will make it down before the season is over, but I will do some leg work and at least get familiar with the land before next year.
