I've been a loyal Hooks user the past four seasons, but I'm looking to branch out a little. Always heard good things from woodhaven mouth calls, which ones do most of you prefer? At 10-12 bucks a pop, I hate to experiment too much. Thanks.
Red Wasp.
I've tried the Scott Ellis signature series one and really like it.

You'll be back to running hooks soon enough after this experiment.
I like the woodhaven copperhead call best.

Classic V3
Copperhead and copperhead 2
I've been using a copperhead for the past several years and really, really like it.
Hey struttin. If you wanna try something new, give dead end game calls a try. They are built by Mitchell Johnston, who used to be with Woodhaven. They are not as pricey and if you'll enter code kcurrin at checkout, you'll get 5% off on me. I recently made pro staff with them and they're a great bunch of guys who make quality products. I used woodhaven myself for years until now and my all time favorites were the yellow venom and the blue demon.
lots of better calls out there
Copperhead

I also like the copperhead in the rare event I use a mouth call..but I always have a copperhead in my vest for a change up call..most times it's slate for me.
give gooserbat a try, he makes some real good calls
I have several woodhaven call's and the classic v3 gets my vote!
Thanks for the input guys, keep it coming. I will also check out the other brands mentioned. I was a knight and hale man for quite a few years until I was turned on to Scott Hooks calls. Just wouldn't mind trying a few different ones
I've used a number of there calls and like the Scott Ellis the best. easy to use will little air pressure. Hook's makes some great mouth calls though, hard to beat.
I've not used any thing but Gooserbat calls for years for obvious reasons, but I did have a Woodhaven Hornet once up on a time and I liked it.

Quoted for truth!
If you're looking to branch out just try a few more of the different Hooks offerings. Also, Houndstooth and Legacy make good calls as well. As for Woodhaven, if you are dead set on trying them then a Classic V3 would be a good one to try.
My favorites are the Copperhead 2 and the Hornet. The Raspy Red Reactor and Yellow Venom are awesome too.
used a yellow venom to call in my best-ever tom last year
also like the raspy red, red wasp and copperhead
The past few years I've been using Scott Ellis signature, raspy red reactor, yellow venom, and the red wing with great results!!
Raspy red and the yellow venom. I'm a big fan of the woodhaven friction calls but haven't been overly impressed with the mouth calls. Those two work best for me, I've tried about 8 of the others...
My favorite mouth calls right now are the tom teaser rip series. But I got a gooserbat on the way!

TOXIC ORANGE
Picked this one up recently, very pleased with it very easy to control. Also like the copperhead model.

I've been playing with the copperhead, raspy red, and the toxic orange.
I like the raspy red best but they are pricey.
I have been shopping too, I just can't find one I like. I'm looking for the one brand I just can't go wrong with.
I really really want to try foot on da head, just haven't gotten around to calling him.

Black wasp
Scorpion with green latex was my favorite but now the Copperhead and CH2 are what I run!
I didn't want to derail in my earlier post but since you have asked for other brands to try as well, take a look at gooserbat. A few weeks ago I got a bacon and a hillbilly and love them both!!!
I like the red wasp and yellow venom and cooper head. but I also like hooks I have several in my vest.

I'm a die-hard Red Wasp fan, but ... gotta say, I'm really diggin' this Houndstooth Diamond X call; it manages to get the rasp I like out of the Red Wasp, but is much easier to blow for the quiet stuff (soft yelps, purrs, etc.)...
I switched to woodhaven 3 seasons ago. The copperhead is hands down the best mouth call I've ever owned. I have several others but the copperhead I can do anything with. Its the easiest to use I've ever had, I can control the volume and make any call with it. I give it 8 stats on a 5 star scale!
I love Woodhaven mouth calls. My favorites are the classic V3 and the Comp Hornet. I am going to pick up a copperhead,as it seems everyone likes it.
Red Wasp for me. Always have one with me.Cooperhead is also a good call.
Black wasp, Classic V3, and Scott Ellis signature are my favorites. I have a lot of different mouth calls (Hook's, Houndstooth, Cane Creek, ect..) and it's odd to me that some of you guys wouldn't even consider Woodhaven. Different strokes for different folks.
Back when I was using Woodhavens, my favorite was the Sadler McGraw signature ghost cut. It's discontinued, but it looks similar to their Toxic Orange. The biggest drawback was that it took me a couple of days to break in new calls before they started breaking over like I wanted them to. Once broken in though, they sounded great. I mostly use Hooks now, since I can get the same sound and run them right out of the package.
Another vote for the Red Wasp
Classic V3 and the Copperhead.
Scott ellis signature and raspy red reactor are my favorites. Scott Ellis's Signature is by far my favorite.
Huh, just saw that Woodhaven released a brand-new mouth call today -- it's called the "Black Dirt Dauber"... Might have to check that out!!
In response to all the negative posts about them on OG, I thought I heard 'em say their slogan for this call is, "Now it's time for US to sling some mud!". Pretty bold, if you ask me.
