Title: Measuring Spurs?
Post by: 01Foreman400 on March 24, 2014, 09:59:11 AM
These are my biggest. I killed him yesterday. What is the correct way to measure them?  Are you suppose to go with the curve?  What would be the length of these?

You are measuring correctly along the curve.  Looks like you are shorting yourself by 1/16 where the spur starts.  I'd say that spur is very close to 1 3/8" and a heck of a bird.  Congrats

Nice spurs. Measure them with the curve for sure. Just like a tine or main beam. Don't short the bird or yourself.

Well, cloth will stretch:) There's little give in the metal ones.

Another good way is to use a piece of paper or card stock and mark it, then measure with any rule.

Very nice hooks!

Based on how most people I've seen on the "innerweb" would measure that bird, those are 2 5/8"  ;D

In all seriousness, that one would qualify as a "goodun". Congratulations
