Title: FF3 Pic Protector mount screws
Post by: PEHunter on March 23, 2014, 09:45:55 PM
My current site suddenly changed zero and I don't have alot of time to test to see if it was one time thing or not, so I just ordered a new Ff3 and picatinny protector mount to use. I have read a couple threads where some people needed longer screws for the mount. Do I need to call burris and get some on the way? Our opener is Apr 12, so time is running short. Thanks in advance.

The protector should come with them....the one I ordered had them in the package with the mount.

The longer screws came with the protector I bought earlier this year.

Thanks for the info guys!  I wasn't sure if I would need them or not so I was trying to get a step ahead sense time is running out.  I have to change sights at this point, but I lost confidence to my current one after it moved.  Thanks again for the info.

I got the protector mount in today and it came with the longer screws, and also 3 concaved lock washers.  The only place I can see these going is under the screw head, however the ears on the washer don't contact the screw head which makes it useless.  Am I missing something?  The installation instructions don't mention them either.  I'm thinking a drop of BLUE loctite, finger snug and calling it good. What does everyone think?

Once you tighten it down the washers squeeze down into the holes....Put the blue loc tite on and snug them down, if you have access to the Fat Wrench then it calls for 10 ft lbs of torque on each screw and 20 on the pic mounting screw.

Best of luck!!!

They are star washers, and are commonly used when the base part is a soft metal, or plastic.

In this case, the star will grab the base and the underside of the screw head, which offers more grip than the two smooth surfaces alone.

Yep to the blue locktite & finger snug...

Good luck, the FFIII has helped me kill many difficult birds...
