Complete newbie here (for the most part).I have tried to give turkey hunting a shot for the past few seasons and it just had not worked out..I have accumulated more gobbler related gear over time though..My question pertains to my gun/choke an the Federal Turkey thug shells..I have a 24 inch ported barrel 835 that I plan to use the ulti-full choke with..Does anyone know if these shells are a good starting point or a total waste of time?

They are a very good shell so give them a try in #5s or #6s.
my 24in 835 will do 130 -135 with the thug #5 with the ulitmag turkey choke, make sure to clean the barrel very good
Thanks for the replies!! We talking 3inch or 3.5s?

good as place as any to start, the factory turkey choke works great with some shells, you just got to find the ones it likes
Anyone else have any input on the subject?
As soon as I get my Williams Fire Sights I think I am gonna start with a box of Turkey thug 3 1/2 5s an see what the result it.

as long as your gettin 100 in a 10" circle at 40 yds your good to go. Will that gun do better than that with a different load choke combo absolutely , It may do better with just a different load like the Win. long beard . It all depends on how much money your willing to spend to find out. My guess is you'll be happy with that combo this year then for the next 12 months your gonna read on here how others are getting big numbers and you'll end up trying some different load choke combo's . good luck, happy hunting :icon_thumright:
