Well I pattern my 870 with the Hevi 3/2/7s I normally shoot and I also tried some lonbeards #6s. I was using scrap pieces of drywall to tack my targets to. I shot the Hevi 7s first and noticed that about 12 pellets had gone thru. I then pattern the longbeards and to my surprise that piece of drywall had prolly 80 pellets that had passed thru. I never expected lead #6s to out penetrate Hevi 7s has any body else noticed this?
Partially due to the longbeards are leaving the gun a good bit faster than the Hevi 7's. The lead 6 also probably outweighs the hevi 7. But there is quite a few more 7's in the shell.
That's good to hear because 3-2-7's is what I normally shoot but I have some LB in 6 to try. If the LB's pattern well with my 930 and can penetrate as well or better than the Hevi's within 40yds then it will be goodbye to the ridiculously overpriced Hevi-13. I think you may have opened up a can of worms with this post though. Lol!

got to agree with ya
Sounds about right Hevi13 has gone to 12 g cc instead of actually being 13 g cc.

They pattern just as good as the Hevi in my gun I guess I'm done with Hevi. shouldn't have to worry about the long beards leaking buffer either ;D

This^^^ I ran a 3" LB across the chrony last week and it said 1337 fps (SBE 26") . I wasn't expecting that.
My patterns with the LB 3" 6's are excellent. 214 in a 10 @ 40. Although they are amazing patterns they don't get close to the H 13 3/2/7 patterns out of the same gun. 280's in a 10" is what the H 13 7 turn out of this gun. I'm glad to know the penetration is better with the LB 6's. I don't mind giving up 70+ pellets if I am getting good velocity and penetration. This kind of performance for $2.00 a shell is awesome.
I hope they work for you guys, I wish the hevi 13 were faster, 1090 is a bit slow, but I have never killed a gobbler with lead 6 shot past 35 yards, but stone cold killed with hevi 13 7 shot well past the preferred 40 yard , with 200 plus in a 10 with lead 6, it should killem ok, I will stick to HTL for know,or lead 5 and 4 shot for back up. I do have some 3.5in turkey thugs 6 shot for close thick hunting but have not shot them yet to see how they pattern,Got enough other HTL, and HV win 5 for that , Hev 13 needs to change ther name to Hevi 12.
