I feel fortunate to be able to say Lonnie is a dear friend. The man is a wealth of knowledge about hunting and turkey calling. I believe he was 5 time state calling champion in West Virginia. He has killed more turkeys than most people will see in a lifetime. I always enjoy our phone visits. Lonnie Jr. has invited me there someday to visit him and his dad and I might just take him up on it.
I have several calls made by Lonnie. I used one Hot Hen slate two springs ago to call 12 gobblers to the gun with just that call. The Outlaw Hen will be a killer also. I plan to run one of those this spring.
Have 2 of his slates and they are both top shelf calls. One always in my vest. Heck of a nice man.
Just ordered hot hen, outlaw hen, and a tree yelper......they're being mailed out tomorrow.....can't wait :turkey2:
One of his slates was given to me, its always in my vest now!!! :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright:
I echo what these guys are saying. I have a hot hen slate, and you couldn't buy it. Period.
ttt :turkey2:
Opening day Florida south zone. Public land. Called this one in for my friends first bird.
Congrats, nice bird!

Mr. Sneed's seems to be a popular guy around here. Does he have a website or just take over the phone orders? Whats he charge for the hot hen pot?
Just phone orders, he charges $30 for his calls and that is shipped.
It is actually $40 now. I just picked up a couple.
$40 if you want a cover $30 if you don't

Yup, this 100% correct. I'd recommend looking up some pics of the cover...... it's a unique design and it's pretty neat.

CHECK IT OUT
Very cool! :icon_thumright:
I actually just got my hot hen slate and my outlaw hen green glass in, along with a tree yelper....I love the hot hen, but the outlaw hen definitly has a different sound....still trying to work with it. Very happy with the purchase. Mr. Sneed is a personable and likeable person.
As fine a man, you'd want to meet.....
His calls speak for themselves...... :newmascot:
Does he keep calls on hand? Is the only payment option he accepts is check, or mo by mail? Going to an expo tom and may give him a call if I don't find anything I like there.
Got both of my calls today, they are top notch!
whats the turn around on his calls? I have drug my feet again and need to order ASAP
Turn around isn't bad. Might be just a few days if he has some made. I had mine about 5 days after I ordered it.
This hot hen brought this nice Eastern in here in North Florida this morning. :funnyturkey:

I have a Hot Hen and a Outlaw hen that both sound great. What is the
Tree yelper? Is it a pot call?
Tree yelper is just a thin piece of wood with a circle cut out of it with a piece of slate glued onto the wood, it just produces a very soft yelp. I think they are only like $10, I've used mine right at daylight and gotten some responses out of it. Something small and a little different sounding to use.
Thanks
That little tree yelper that dad makes works very good late in the day when gobblers are shut mouthed. I will get in a place were I know there are turkey and just sit and make feeding calls of a hen on that little call. Several time I have done that and about 30 min. after I start doing the feeding calls a gobbler will show up. It is a very effective call to have in the vest.

Lonnie Jr, I actually called your father Monday morning to thank him for my hot hen slate that helped me take a great gobbler that morning, lol
I have two of Lonnie' slate calls. Great calls at a reasonable price....Great guy to talk to with lots of stories. Originally found his calls in a general store on the WV/VA line. ...
Was playing around last night with my hot hen slate and with the little tree yelper last night, man they have an amazing sound to them, just so smooth!! I actually called with them and then called with all the other calls I had in my vest and just couldnt get that same great sound from any of them and I have alot of other great custom calls in there. Mr. Sneeds call is the first one that I will reach for this spring in the turkey woods for sure!!
Cant wait to get a few more from him!! Awesome calls!
